The
Beginning
In 1998, a small business began that would eventually transform into the stores that hold all of your finest pop culture merch. But it didn’t start out that way! Our story begins in quite an ordinary manner, with a self-made businesswoman running a few shops in high-end markets. Eventually, she settled into a single small shop of unique Eastern items, the first step taken into the world of popular culture. While the business thrived, the owner felt it lacked one crucial element. One that would be the foundation of the new business she would one day create, joy.

The Birth of
With this in mind, the owner chose to focus all of her attention on a new business, one built on a foundation of fun! This store would carry a blend of current and popular products in the USA as well as unique international items. A relatively uncommon concept then! A store where everyone could find something they loved, something that brought them joy! Thus, in 2006, Character World was born.
With it’s wide variety of collectables and clothing items, this portal to a world of joy and characters from franchises of all kinds became a popular local destination in it’s birthplace of Georgia, USA. Importing largely from Japan and Korea, Character World carried items not found in most other stores. From Anime and popular Asian staples including household items and Sanrio characters, to collectable figures and other items from the US and Europe! With such a high demand, other malls in Georgia and beyond began seeking such a store for themselves. An international concept with a diverse selection of popular culture items! Eventually, they got their wish, in the form of Pop Cult!
The
Expansion
"For All Your Finest Pop Culture Merch!"
As the demand for Character World grew, so did the company. What was once a small family business began it’s next stage of evolution when talk of expanding into other states went from a hope to a plan. Spreading outwards from Georgia, stores were slowly opening in it’s neighboring states of Tennesse, South Carolina, North Carolina, & finally in 2014, Florida.
While the original store would always remain Character World, it was decided to open all other locations with a new name, one a little more on the nose. Each new location opened under the name, Pop Cult. As the company grew outward, we expanded our product line as well, to include the widest variety of pop culture items. Not to mention some delightfully delicious Japanese and Korean food and drinks! We brought in Gundam, Funko Pops!, Loungefly, Disney Collections statues, Swords, Pokemon, and secured Pop Cult as the destination for Sanrio in the USA!
The main goal for Pop Cult is to spread joy as far and wide as possible! Be on the lookout in the near future, you might just find a Pop Cult opening near you!

What’s Next
for Pop Cult?
We have great plans to bring many new unique and cheerful international items to our stores, bringing happiness to humanity as far as we can reach! We have our eyes on some new locations and maybe some new states, you never know!
We are actively developing our online store, bringing joy in the form of your favorite popular culture items right to your door! We aim to launch this virtual shop by the summer of 2024. A new system is also underway to allow customers to order online and pick up at their local Pop Cult! More info to come later, so stay tuned for updates!
